Essonite

Set at the foot of Table Mountain in the picturesque enclave of Fresnaye, this one-of-a-kind penthouse villa perfectly captures the striking magnitude of its setting, from Lion’s Head and the surrounding mountains to panoramic Atlantic Ocean views that stretch beyond the horizon.

Inside, no luxury is unaccounted for, with every detail of the home carefully considered, including custom furnishings and finishes crafted by some of South Africa’s most celebrated artisans.

There is a sense of grand theatricality to the penthouse, which is accessed directly via an elevator. As the doors open, the home presents a series of generous open-plan living spaces—an art-filled lobby, wine cellar, informal lounge, dining room, kitchen, bedroom suites and two balconies—while the level above comprises a second kitchen, formal living and dining rooms, a steam room, an outdoor shower, and a bar, all leading out onto a magnificent, sun-soaked pool deck with loungers and an alfresco seating area.

A profusion of natural materials was purposefully chosen throughout the home, with warm timber joinery and cool marble counters, plush carpets, and pops of glass and burnished brass all working in harmony to evoke a deeply calming experience. Further ensuring that comfort is never compromised, the home’s climate and light intensity are controlled through an integrated smart system.

Entertaining is effortless here. Both kitchens are fitted with state-of-the-art appliances and spacious prep areas, sculleries, and cold rooms, while the informal and formal dining rooms can host 14 and 18 guests, respectively. And, when the time comes to call it a night, the penthouse accommodates up to six guests in three spacious en-suite bedrooms, each appointed in a quietly luxurious palette of champagne and pearl. Room features include queen-size beds and dressing rooms, while the master suite includes a king-size bed and also boasts a bio-fuel fireplace, private study, and free-standing bath with 180-degree views through floor-to-ceiling windows.

This is life in the clouds, elevated modern living in every sense of the word, designed to ensure your stay is filled with lifelong memories in one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
